Leopard Hackintosh
Here's how I got OSX working with an Intel D975BX2X2 and Nvidia video card.
The setup uses one SATA HDD and IDE DVDRW. It took some trial and error but in the end I have fully working Mac OSX v10.5.2 on fairly standard PC hardware. There's a ton of details in the forums (osx86, insanelymac, and I'm more of a hobbyist than serious member of the 'scene'. But, for those of you interested dipping your feet in, here's the basic steps that worked for me:
1) Boot from Kalyway's Leopard 10.5.1 ISO in regular graphics mode without typing any special cmd-line parameters. The boot takes a loooong time.
2) When the install loads up, go to Disk Utility, format the entire drive as Extended (journaled) and create one partition setting it as MBR.
3) Proceed to the install, click Customize.
4) Select the Vanilla w/ AHCI fix kernel, the correct vid-card driver (I chose the nvinject desktop one), and the MBR EFI. Don't select any audio drivers.
5) Let the install run.
6) Voila!
7) Extract the attached file on your hackintosh, drag the txt file and drop it onto the patcher. After the patch runs and you reboot you'll have sound.
8) Run the Kalyway 10.5.2 update - works!
Caveats:
a) After installing 10.5.2, when I boot the machine up, right before it displays the desktop, there's a very long pause (2 min) where the monitor goes completely off and the computer is apparently doing nothing (no HDD light flashing). Finally after just sitting there it comes to life.
b) Even after installing the audio driver, sound Input doesn't work.
c) The Kalyway disk doesn't have iLife in it, but after installing it myself and running all the Apple Software Updates iMove, etc works fine.
d) I have to go into the BIOS and change boot order of my HDDs in order to boot from the Windows one.
And lastly, if you have an Asus P5W-DH or want to see the article that originally inspired me to do this, here it is: Build a Hackintosh for under $800.
