Keyboards are so Lame

Keyboards are so Lame. I mean, how ridiculous is it for us to physically type each and every single letter in a sentence, including punctuation!? Hasn't technology improved a bit over the last 80 years? Why are we still using keyboards?

Sigh. That is one of my pet peeves with technology nowadays. Which is why I'm happy to hear about the latest round of public patent filings by Apple. I'm also happy to hear that the two dudes working for Apple in the finger-gesture input department are the same dudes who founded FingerWorks. FingerWorks makes a selection of great touch-only input devices that supported complex finger/hand movements for computer input. IE: to double-click, tap with two fingers (duh!).

Apple's new patent requests include a huge selection of gesture/input technologies: http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/08/07/03/new_apple_touch_patents_show_body_part_sensing_fingernail_input.html.
