linksys gigabit router

this is a great lil product for those of you who demand gigabit speeds on your home network.

i bought and installed this in mine and it works marvelously. you can assign IPs by MAC addy translation, run NIDS, create filters and VLANs just like on higher-end Cisco products [remember they bought Linksys awhile back] and back up the config should you ever need to restore it.

it works great and fits in the modest network enclosure in my wall like a glove. throughput speeds are indeed what they claim and for ~$125US it's a value.

highly recommended!

oh yeah, i forgot it's got a handy VPN feature [client/server] that works great if you are using Winblows.

the rest of us will stick with SSH i guess.
