Once you get the "think of the children" stuff out of the way - from a security standpoint I agree, it doesn't make any sense to allow a minor to get on the plane with just a boarding pass or parental consent, but like the article says, what sort of identification does a minor have? Unknown. And how would you verify that someone is indeed the parent? Issues like this will cause us all to have mandatory ID's or biometric scans from the day we are born.
