It's kind of a shame because I remember "back in the day" when Real Player was just a startup and their product was slim, trim, effective, and unique. The NY Times has this nifty article on the evolution of captcha-like tricks to keep robots out of websites. At first it was the annoying "type the letters you see in the picture" but now some of the math and other questions might be getting too hard for the average Joe: A Dog or a Cat?
